#AustinOutProud: September 2019

With 2019 becoming a very busy and exciting year, we cannot wait to reconnect with everyone at the next #AustinOutProud. 

#AustinOutProud is Out Youth's FREE community engagement series that gives supporters (donors, volunteers, parents, teachers, etc.) the chance to:

  • Have the chance to see what job opportunities and upcoming events we are offering 

  • Hear from youth, parents, community members, and partners

  • Learn what exciting news and changes are going on at Out Youth

  • Network with other supporters (including donors and volunteers)

  • Meet and speak to Out Youth staff, youth, and board members 

At this event, we will be discussing what happened this summer including Austin Pride and Trans Night Swim.

This #AustinOutProud will be hosted by our partners at The Q Austin.
Light snacks and drinks will be provided.

The Q Austin has plenty of parking available in their lot.
The Q Austin is located 1023 Springdale Road Building 14, Suite A Austin, Texas 78721.

This month, we are asking attendees to bring a snack item to donate for our snack pantry. We are in need of snacks such as chips, juice, and cases of mini waters.

Out Youth Glitz Gala 2019

We are proud to announce that Out Youth is bringing Glitz back to Fair Market in Downtown Austin. Tickets and tables are now on sale and trust us you don’t want to miss it.

The evening will include dinner, drinks, dancing, silent and live auctions, and our awards presentation honoring our outstanding volunteers and supporters as well as a few surprises.

We hope to see you on Saturday, November 3rd, as we celebrate 28 years of Out Youth’s service to LGBTQ+ youth.

A VIP reception under the evening stars will begin at 6 p.m. The glittering gala gets underway at 7 p.m. Complimentary valet will be available. Attire is Austin after dark – so be sure you dress to impress.

Spring Symposium on Transgender Mental Healthcare

Providing Comprehensive & Compassionate Care for Transgender and Non-Binary Children, Youth, and Adults

Our Spring Symposium will offer two days of training in evidence-based best practices of gender affirming care and treatment for transgender and gender non-binary individuals. 

Workshops will feature local providers who serve the Central Texas transgender community, as well as experts who lead the way in the rapidly evolving field of transgender care.

CEUs

Continuing education units will be provided by the Texas HIV Connection, which is approved by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners, the Texas State Board of Professional Counselors, and the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals to provide continuing education to licensed professionals.

CMEs

We are not able to provide continuing education credits for medical professionals at this symposium.

David Bohnett CyberCenter Grand Reopening

Join us for the Grand Reopening of the David Bohnett CyberCenter!

Funded by a grant from the David Bohnett Foundation,Out Youth’s CyberCenter provides computers with broadband internet access so that our youth can stay connected anytime the Drop-In Center is open.

Each computer is equipped with a suite of popular internet browsers, Microsoft Office software, photo and video editing, and much more. Out Youth also provides wireless internet access, so feel free to bring your own computer or mobile device to the Drop-In Center.

Community Night Spotlight: LGBTQ Family Pride

Thinkery is hosting a playful evening in celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer families, as well as LGBTQ adults with children in their lives. Admission is by donation, with a suggested $1 dollar donation.

Thinkery strives to be an inclusive, friendly, inspiring space to learn for the entire community, regardless of financial status, mental/physical abilities, ethnicity, nationality, race, sexual orientation, gender expression/identity or family status. During Community Night Spotlight evenings, Thinkery shines a light on a unique aspect of the rich diversity that makes Austin such an amazing place to live, play and learn with educational activities facilitated by staff and special community presenters.

LGBTQ Family Pride Evening activities and community partners include:

Getting cooking with Common Threads and learn healthy snack recipes, like rainbow fruit kabobs!

Mini-Pride Parade: Grab a rainbow flag, a noisemaker and show your pride as we march through the museum.

Storytime with Austin International Drag Foundation Inc. drag queen storytellers.

Out Youth where youth of all sexual orientations and gender identities have a place where they are loved, acknowledged, and accepted for exactly who they are.

PFLAG Austin an organization dedicated to offering free support groups that offer: acceptance, encouragement and answers to your questions about LGBTQ issues.

Taste the colors of the rainbow with free ice cream generously donated by our friends at Lick Honest Ice Creams!

"What Makes a Family?" Art Wall – Add a picture of what family means to you - we’re more alike than different!

Parachute Play – Experience your kindergarten glory days while jumping under a colorful parachute.

Big Gay Musical benefiting Out Youth

The Hideout Theatre presents Big Gay Musical: An Improvised Super Super Gay Musical, the biggest, bestest, queerest Broadway musical that never existed! 

Every Saturday at 8pm in July and August, a Big Gay Musical homage to Broadway will be created before your eyes, inspired by true stories from LGBTQIA+- identifying monologists told onstage during the show! This never-before-seen, never-to-be-seen-again Big Gay Musical will feature queer protagonists, queer love stories and a whole heap of VERY EXTRA queer anthems

Each of Big Gay Musical’s seven shows will raise money for a different local LGBTQIA+ organization! This show will be benefiting Out Youth.

Join us for an inclusive & informative community brunch at Magnolia Café South this Saturday, July 21.

Out Youth will be joined by our partners from the Kind Clinic in the Garden sharing information about our organizations and how you can help support LGBTQ+ youth across Central Texas.
